Biography
One of the most influential musicians in the European post-war jazz history. Born in Vienna, he spend many years of his life in Germany though, many in the Black Forest area as well as in Hamburg. He was a constant visitor at the MPS studio and the list of albums he recorded for MPS or participated in is long.
„Jazz-Studio H.G.B.S. Number One“ from 1961 is the first and many albums like “Phoenix”, “Vision”, Relax with My Horns” or “Zoller Koller Sollal” (with Martial Sollal and Attila Zoller) followed.
„Free Sound and Super Brass“ (1977) by Hans Koller and Wolfgang Dauner together with a 16-piece big band is seen by many as a milestone in European Jazz history. Koller died in December 2003 in Vienna.
