Interview with Joachim Kühn

In one of our previous posts we have already talked about our reissue of Alphonse Mouzon's „In Search Of  A Dream“ on 180g Vinyl and CD. Today we will leave the talking to Joachim Kühn whom we met a little while ago. Kühn was deeply involved in the recording of “In Search Of A Dream”  at the Zuckerfabrik  in Stuttgart 1977. Kühn and Mouzon also collaborated on Joachim Kühn's album “Hip Elegy” on both he had a lot of stories to share.

Joachim Kühn 1977

Pianist-composer Joachim Kühn has been a force on the international jazz scene for half a century. Trained as a classical pianist, Kühn migrated to jazz, playing fusion with Alphonse Mouzon, free jazz with Ornette Coleman, and modern jazz in his iconic group with bassist JF Jenny-Clarke and drummer Daniel Humair.

Joachim Kühn worked on an incredible 25 albums for MPS, 9 under his own name and 16 as a sideman. Time and time again he collaborated with his older brother Rolf Kühn and they sometimes still play together to this day.
